On the morning of April 16, Ukrainian strike drones attacked the base of the Russian 112th Missile Brigade, which is equipped with Iskander ballistic missiles.
Videos of the incident have been published on social media, and local sources have confirmed this, according to Astra.
According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, this brigade, along with the 448th Brigade, was involved in the missile strike on Sumy on April 13, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians.
According to open sources, the brigade is stationed in the Yuzhny Gorodok district of Shuya, Ivanovo Region.
In numerous videos, drones can be seen hitting a ground target. Meanwhile, the Russians try to shoot them down with small arms, but they fail to do so.
Russian media reports that this is the first time Ukrainian Liutyi long-range drones have attacked the Ivanovo region of the Russian Federation.
The 112th Brigade is equipped with Iskander-M ballistic missile systems, with which the Russians periodically shell Ukraine, including targeting civilian infrastructure.
In Shuya, after the UAV attack, military vehicles blocked one of the streets, according to local social media. The local authorities are urging residents not to go outside for the time being.
Later, Russia claimed that their air defense had, as usual, “shot everything down.” Meanwhile, emergency service teams are on-site at the “debris crash location,” working to manage the aftermath.
However, videos filmed by locals suggest the opposite. The results of the Liutyi drone strike are currently unknown.
The day before, the Ukrainian Defense Forces targeted the base of the Russian Army’s 448th Missile Brigade, which is also responsible for the shelling of Sumy.
According to preliminary intelligence, the Russians used Iskander-M missiles or North Korean KN-23 missiles.
