Latvia has transferred 1,500 drones of various types to Ukraine within the framework of the Drone Coalition.

Andris Sprūds, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Latvia, stated this.

On his X (formerly Twitter) account, he published photos of a truck loaded with drones that were sent to Ukraine as part of the coalition.

Two Latvian companies manufactured the drones and are scheduled to deliver 12,000 drones worth €17 million in the first half of the year.

Over time, the number of drones transferred will rapidly increase as companies establish supply chains and scale up production capacities.

The Drone Coalition, founded in February 2024 at the initiative of Latvia and Ukraine, currently includes 18 donor countries, which have committed to supplying the Ukrainian Defense Forces with reconnaissance drones, FPV drones, and multi-rotor bomber drones.

Norway’s signing of the agreement in February 2024 allowed the number of participating countries to rise to 18 and expanded financial opportunities for orders, production, and delivery of drones.

Over the course of a year, the international Drone Coalition has supplied the Ukrainian Defense Forces with drones and invested over €2 billion in Ukrainian systems production.

Militarnyi previously reported that the coalition allocated €20 million to purchase reconnaissance UAVs for Ukraine.

The funds were allocated in response to the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces for reconnaissance drones, which are currently a key element of intelligence activities in the front-line zone.

Partners have also accumulated €176 million in the Joint Fund, to which Coalition members contribute. Members of the Coalition use these funds to conduct tenders, which serve as a tool for finding innovative solutions that can be scaled to create an asymmetric advantage over the enemy on the battlefield.

Ukrainian companies manufacturing drones became the second-largest in terms of the number of applications submitted in the second series of tenders announced by the United Kingdom within the Drone Coalition.
