The Kurdistan Workers’ Party has started using FPV drones with fiber-optic control against the Turkish army.
A video of the attack with such a drone was posted by the user War Noir on X (formerly Twitter).
The footage shows an FPV drone with a suspended payload and a spool of fiber-optic cable flying towards Turkish army positions.
The drone was equipped with an improvised explosive device, which detonated after hitting the position.

According to the user, as a result of this attack, several Turkish army officers sustained serious injuries.
The main advantages of drones that use fiber optics for control are stable connection, higher-quality video signal transmission, and complete immunity to electronic warfare systems.
Militarnyi previously reported that the cost of fiber-optic drones had significantly decreased due to increased production volumes and might become even lower for Ukrainian companies.
This is primarily due to the growth in the production of fiber-optic spools used in drones. As a result, their price has dropped from $2,500 to $500, making such drones much more accessible both for the armed forces of various countries and for paramilitary groups.
