1020th Regiment Interceptor Drone Destroyed Geran-5 at a Speed of 425 km/h

The 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Regiment has received new drones capable of catching up with and shooting down Geran-5 jet-powered UAVs.

This was reported to Militarnyi by the Serhiy Prytula Foundation.

A Yastrub crew in the Chernihiv region destroyed a Geran-5 flying at a speed of 425 km/h and an altitude of over 3 km.

Geran-5-type jet drones fly fast and high, so conventional interceptor drones often cannot intercept them.

“The foundation has contracted with a number of manufacturers capable of countering this threat. Our task is to scale this up and strengthen our units,” the foundation noted.

In total, since the beginning of September, the Defense Forces have neutralized 55% of the Geran jet drones.

To counter this, the Russians have begun deploying a new variant of the Geran-5 jet-powered UAV, which features an autonomous optical navigation system and a modified fuselage design.
