Ukrainian Defense Forces Neutralize 55% of Geran Drones Since Early September

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are neutralizing around 55% of jet-powered drones. Since the beginning of September, Russia has used more than 2,730 jet-powered Geran drones, of which more than 1,500 were shot down or suppressed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported this in his evening address.

According to him, in 2027, Russia plans to spend $12 billion solely on the production of jet-powered drones and loitering munitions.

Meanwhile, Ukraine already has several effective interceptor prototypes designed to counter Russian jet-powered drones, and teams are using them in combat conditions.

“Interceptors have already been identified that could become the main means of our defense. We are scaling up production, components, and everything else. There will be a response,” he emphasized.

The ultimate goal is to achieve an interception rate no lower than that for conventional Shahed drones. It currently exceeds 90%.

As of August, Russia’s production of Shahed-type jet-powered kamikaze drones – Geran-4/5 – had surpassed the production volume of Geran-2 strike drones equipped with conventional internal combustion engines.

According to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, Russian industry produces around 3,000 Geran-4/5 kamikaze drones and about 2,800 Geran-2 strike drones each month.
