A Kinzhal hypersonic missile fell down on the territory of Russia. The incident took place on September 14 in the Turkmen district of the Stavropol Krai near the village of Kendzhe-Kulak.

Stavropol Governor Vladimir Vladimirov released photos featuring the scene.

According to the Russian Telegram channel Baza, six people were injured by the explosion of the Kinzhal missile: one firefighter and five civilians who came to see the scene of the accident. This indicates that the missile detonated some time after it fell down.

Russian media are pushing forward the version that it was the Tu-141 drone that crashed in the Stavropol Krai. However, the wreckage found at the site of the explosion does not support this version. The photo and video do not show any characteristic elements of the Tu-141 Strizh.

OSINT researchers put forward several versions of which missile fell down on the Russian territory.

Twitter user Lota drew attention to the similarity of the missile wreckage to the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic aero-ballistic air-to-surface missile.

According to Valentyn Reznichenko, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, on September 14, the Russians attacked Kryvyi Rih precisely with these Kinzhal missiles. The missile crash site is located 200 km from the Kinzhal-equipped MiG-31s carrier base in Akhtyubinsk.

The settlement could be within the trajectory of the Kh-47M2 missile, which the Russian MiG-31 could have launched from the Caspian Sea.

The Kh-47M2 Kinzhal is a Russian hypersonic aero-ballistic air-to-surface missile. In terms of dimensions and appearance, the Kinzhal missile is similar to the Iskander short-range ballistic missile system. The maximum speed of the missile is 10 M. The MiG-31 is capable of carrying 1 such missile and hitting targets at a distance of up to 2,000 km.

Informnapalm analysts hypothesized that it was the P-800 Oniks missile that fell down in the Stavropol Krai. After all, the appearance of its main part is very similar to the wreckage of the main part of the missile, which the Russians “landed” on their territory.

The ships of the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy indeed include the carriers of these missiles. However, the maximum stated firing range of this missile is 800 km. From most points of the Caspian Sea, it is impossible to reach the territory of Ukraine with the Oniks missiles.
