Patria and Ukrainian company General Cherry have signed a letter of intent to jointly produce drones in Finland for the needs of Ukraine and Europe.
Patria announced the agreement.
The agreement between the companies provides for the localization of Ukrainian unmanned technologies in the partner country and their further development using Finland’s industrial base, General Cherry told Militarnyi.
“Today, we are taking another step toward deepening our cooperation by combining Ukrainian combat experience with Finnish technologies. Our companies have signed documents on the development and production of drones in Finland for the needs of Ukraine and Europe, the development of capabilities in maritime unmanned systems, and the establishment of a facility for producing unmanned ground systems,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who attended the signing ceremony, said.
Although Patria’s core business is armored vehicle production, the company also has a small drone portfolio following its acquisition of Finnish company Nordic Drones, which had been developing UAVs and training operators for more than a decade.
Patria announced the deal in June 2024 and completed the acquisition on Oct. 1 after receiving approval from Finnish authorities. In early 2025, Patria unveiled a lineup of three quadcopter-type drones: Patria SKY, Patria ONE and Patria GEO.
The Patria SKY is a long-range multipurpose quadcopter designed for use by security and defense forces in challenging weather conditions.
According to the company, the drone has undergone extensive production and technical testing and received official approval from Finnish authorities.
The Patria ONE is a multipurpose drone with a modular design that allows operators to change radios and use fiber-optic control.
The drone can also carry explosives. It features a three-stage operator protection system for safe handling of munitions.
The Patria GEO is a drone designed for terrain mapping. With a flight endurance of up to 74 minutes, it can cover more than 100 hectares in a single flight, making it suitable for visualizing, measuring and modeling various objects.
The drone is equipped with a 42-megapixel camera capable of providing terrain imagery with a resolution of up to 2 centimeters per pixel at an altitude of 150 meters.
