Ukrainian intelligence services tested “explosive” goggles for FPV drones on the heads of pigs before sending them to the Russian invaders.
Babel media reported on this, citing sources in the Ukrainian special services.
According to the journalists, the explosions were executed by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, which purchased a large batch of FPV goggles for Russian army pilots and equipped them with a remote detonation function.
After that, in coordination with the DI, Russian volunteers sent the goggles to the enemy army’s UAV units as charity aid.
Media published a photo of the explosive devices that were built into the glasses, which shows that the charge contained only a few grams of explosives. However, this was enough to cause serious injuries.
The consequences of the operation were partially revealed by the Dossier of the Spy Telegram channel, which reported in early February on a series of glass explosions that resulted in at least eight Russian pilots losing their eyesight.
According to the report, between January and February 2025, a number of NGOs sent approximately 80 sets of Skyzone Cobra FPV goggles to various units of the Russian Armed Forces. All organizations received the goods from the same person who provided them as free aid to the Russian military.
The first case of detonation of an improvised explosive device embedded in glasses was recorded on February 4 in the Belgorod region.
The charge consisted of 10-15 grams of plastic explosive and was placed under the case in the place of the cooler near the temple.
The fuse was connected to the power button, which initiated the explosion when the goggles’ cooling fan started.
