An explosion hit a Russian gunpowder plant near the city of Samara this afternoon.

The Exilenova+ Telegram channel reported the incident and published eyewitness footage.

A thick column of white smoke rose above the site, visible from several kilometers away.

The facility is the federal state-owned Samara Plant Kommunar, which produces explosives, gunpowder, pyrotechnics, and ammunition components.

It is located in the urban-type settlement of Petra Dubrava in the Samara region. The plant is part of Russia’s defense industry, supplying ammunition to its occupation forces.

This is the second explosion at a similar Russian facility in the past two days.

On the previous evening, an explosion was reported at one of the production sites of the Kazan Gunpowder Plant.

Three people were injured in that incident, and part of the building collapsed.
