The European Union has provided Ukraine with another €3.3 billion in financial assistance to purchase missiles and drones.

The European Commission announced the funding following a phone call between Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The funding is part of a €90 billion loan package. As part of the package, the EU has already approved funding for the purchase of Patriot air defense systems through the Ukraine Support Loan mechanism.

Earlier this year, the European Union also allocated €3.9 billion and €1 billion for drones, €3.4 billion for drones, missiles, air defense systems and fighter jets, as well as €6.1 billion for air and missile defense systems, missiles, ammunition and radars.

Overall, €28.3 billion has been earmarked for the security and defense sector in 2026 under this package.

The European Commission is also preparing to launch a new program for joint defense-industrial projects, which is expected to use remaining funds from the SAFE facility.

However, von der Leyen did not specify how much funding will remain available under the program or what amount is expected to be allocated to joint projects with Ukraine.
