Drones Attack Iskra Plant Involved in Kh-59 Missile Production

On the morning of September 25, drones struck the Iskra research and production enterprise plant in Ulyanovsk, Russia. The plant is part of the Almaz-Antey defense conglomerate.

The Russian outlet ASTRA reported on the attack, citing its OSINT analyst, who geolocated footage posted by eyewitnesses.

Ulyanovsk region Governor Alexei Russkikh confirmed that the city came under a large-scale drone attack. He said the strikes damaged both industrial and civilian infrastructure.

JSC NPP Iskra Plant is part of the Almaz-Antey Aerospace and Defense Concern. The company handles the full production cycle of semiconductor devices, from development and design to mass production.

The plant produces electronic components used in radio and electronic equipment, computers, communications systems, and specialized military equipment. Its products include transistors, Schottky diodes, optocouplers, IGBT modules, and microwave modules.

The plant is also involved in the production of Kh-59M2/M2A guided air-launched missiles. It supplies the Yaroslavl Radio Plant with 3OT127A transistor pairs, which are used to manufacture SB-1AM television transmitters for the T1A-02 system. The Iskra research and production enterprise plant also supplies diodes for the TVK-2 television channel used in the 72V6 combat vehicle of the Pantsir-S1 air-defense missile and gun system.

Militarnyi previously reported that companies within the Almaz-Antey concern are also involved in expanding Russia’s production of attack drones. In particular, a new plant in Izhevsk is being used to increase production of Russian Shahed-type drones.
