The drone crossed the Moldovan border on the night of June 8 at 12:20 a.m., according to the Ministry of Defense of Republic of Moldova.

Its fragments were later found in a field near the village of Lopatna in the Orhei district.

In a video released by local residents on the ProTV channel, Ukrainian inscriptions on the drone are visible.

“Fragments of an unmanned aerial vehicle were found in an agricultural field near the village of Lopatna. Traces found at the scene indicate a previous explosion,” the Ministry of Defense of Republic of Moldova reported.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Moldova emphasized that Russian aggression against Ukraine poses risks and consequences for neighboring states as well.

According to preliminary information from the ministry, the drone that exploded on Moldovan territory is likely of Ukrainian origin.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant communication with Ukrainian authorities regarding the drone that exploded in Orhei, but, according to preliminary data, it is most likely of Ukrainian origin. Regardless of the drone’s origin, responsibility for any drone that reaches the territory of the Republic of Moldova lies with Russia, which launched an illegal war,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Moldova stated.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the drone that crashed in Moldova during Russia’s massive strike on Ukraine is Russian.

“Another Russian drone crashed in Moldova during Russia’s massive nighttime strike on Ukraine. We express our full support for our Moldovan friends and commend their consistent condemnation of Russian aggression,” Sybiha said.
