In the settlement of Ivanovskaya Lisitsa, located in the Grayvoronsky District of the Belgorod region, an ammunition depot exploded following a drone attack.
The incident was reported by the local publication Pepel.Belgorod.
The explosion took place on March 30, with the Russian military having set up the depot in an uninhabited multi-apartment building.
At the time of the strike, Vyacheslav Radchenko, the deputy head of the Grayvoronsky District administration, was at the site and sustained injuries of an unknown severity. Additionally, one Russian soldier was killed in the attack.
A video released by the publication was filmed at the local cemetery. Analyzing the location and direction of the footage indicates that the explosion occurred near the local school. This is confirmed by the reports of damage to the school’s building.
The type of weapon used and the unit that carried out the operation remain unknown. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not mention the destruction of the depot in its latest reports.
Since the depot was located in a building, targeting it with kamikaze drones at such a long distance is a complex task.
To achieve this, it would be necessary to either precisely hit the windows on the lower floors, where ammunition is usually stored, or use a drone with a powerful warhead capable of penetrating the walls or roof.
Considering these factors, it is possible that, despite statements from local officials, artillery—either gun or rocket, may have been used for the strike.
On March 24, it was reported that the HIMARS rocket system had destroyed four Russian helicopters in the Belgorod region.
Four helicopters – two Ka-52s and two Mi-8s, were destroyed while parked at a field airstrip, where they were being serviced, rearmed, and refueled.
To target Russian aircraft, M30A2 rockets were launched from HIMARS rocket system. These rockets are equipped with 180,000 small submunitions in the form of small tungsten balls surrounding the central explosive charge.
