Fighters from the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) Special Unit Artan cleared part of the village of Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region of Russian occupiers.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that key positions in Stepnohirsk have come under the control of Ukrainian forces.
The operation was conducted in close coordination with adjacent units.
The occupiers had deployed FPV drones in standby mode on the approaches to Russian positions.
“The assault operations were carried out in a coordinated manner, using aerial reconnaissance and precision fire. Every building was checked for ‘surprises’ and any remaining enemy personnel. We do not rule out that the enemy will continue to attempt to re-enter, but we are prepared for this,” said Viktor Torkotiuk, commander of the Artan Special Unit.
The General Staff reported that the Defense Forces repelled two enemy attempts to advance in the areas of Bilohiriia and Stepnohirsk.
According to DeepState, only a small part of the village remains under Russian occupation.
It is also known that French Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets of the Ukrainian Air Force are targeting Russian positions in the village.
They are dropping bombs on houses where Russian troops are attempting to hide in the basements.
Reaching Stepnohirsk is currently difficult: the main road is periodically under Russian shelling.
The village of Stepnohirsk is of critical importance to Ukrainian defense, as its capture by the Russians would allow them to bring in artillery and drone operators and launch even more intense attacks on Zaporizhzhia and surrounding settlements.
Recently, the Defense Forces captured assault troops who were attempting to infiltrate the rear via a gas pipeline in Zaporizhzhia.
