Denmark has allocated DKK 317 million (approximately €42.5 million) for the purchase of artillery shells for Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defence of Denmark reported on this.
The funding is provided under the 25th military aid package. The purchase will be made through Estonia.
According to Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen, it is extremely important for Denmark and its closest allies to continue supporting Ukraine’s fight for freedom.
“We must continue to direct our support so that the Ukrainians can resist Russian aggression,” he stated.
Poulsen also emphasized that a ceasefire must’ve been accompanied by clear security guarantees, and Denmark had already confirmed its readiness to contribute to a potential peacekeeping mission.
He stated that assistance to Ukraine should’ve been provided in line with specific wishes and needs.
On April 3, it was reported that the Danish government had approved a decision to provide funding to support Ukraine with weapons from 2025 to 2027.
The total amount of this aid is estimated at DKK 6.7 billion (about $970 million). Its funding will be provided from the Ukrainian fund created to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities both in the short and long term.
The key components of the Danish package include air defense systems, artillery, and support for Ukraine’s defense industry.
Based on the Danish model’s good experience, DKK 2 billion ($290 million) will also be allocated in 2026 and 2027 to strengthen the Ukrainian defense industry.
With the additional funds, the Danish Ministry of Defence will be able to enter into an early dialogue with the Ukrainian authorities on financing Ukraine’s long-term needs.
