The Czech company LPP Holding field-tested the MTS family of strike drones equipped with an artificial intelligence-based guidance and navigation system in Ukraine.
The Czech media outlet E15 reported on this.
It is noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been using these drones in strike configuration in combat conditions for several months.
According to the developers, the key advantage of the drones is their ability to operate autonomously, without the involvement of an operator, and even in conditions of intense electronic warfare.
This was made possible due to artificial intelligence, which can recognize objects and navigate using map data without GPS.
The system took less than a year to develop. The company’s current production capacity is around 50 units per month, with prospects for further growth.
LPP offers three drone models: the MTS05, a compact tactical drone designed for operations at distances of up to several tens of kilometers, and the MTS25, a larger aircraft with an internal combustion engine capable of covering distances of hundreds of kilometers.
In addition, the model range includes the MTS40, the most powerful member of the family, which can carry a combat payload of up to 12 kg.
While Czech drones with artificial intelligence systems are undergoing combat tests in Ukraine, Ukrainian designs that have been tested in war are beginning to attract the interest of the Czech military.
It was recently announced that the Czech Armed Forces have taken an interest in the Ukrainian Shark reconnaissance drone. In cooperation with the Czech Ministry of Defense, the Czech army tested selected drone models in conditions as close to combat as possible.
The 53rd Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare Regiment of the Czech Armed Forces was involved in the tests. The test scenarios reflected modern warfare conditions, including the operation of drones in an environment with active radio-electronic jamming of navigation and communications.
At the time of publication, no official reports on the test results were published on the websites of either the Ministry of Defense or the Czech Armed Forces. It is also unclear what criteria were used to select the drones for testing and what attracted Czech experts’ attention to the Ukrainian Shark.
