China uses its DeepSeek artificial intelligence platform to create modern warplanes.

The South China Morning Post reported on this, citing Wang Yongqing, the lead designer at the Shenyang Aircraft Design Institute.

China has started actively using artificial intelligence to help free researchers from routine tasks, allowing them to focus on critically important aspects of their work.

Wang has been working for the institute, a subsidiary of state-run Aviation Industry Corporation of China, for nearly four decades. The institute has helped to design a number of fighter jets for the military, including advanced multirole warplanes such as the navy’s J-15 Flying Shark and the J-35 stealth fighter manufactured by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation.

According to him, his team is already actively using artificial intelligence, which significantly speeds up the aircraft development process.

“The technology has already shown promising potential for application, providing new ideas and approaches for future aerospace research and development,” Wang said.

It is worth noting that Shenyang Aerospace University is a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), a leading Chinese developer and manufacturer of combat aviation.

According to Wang Yongqing, thanks to the use of DeepSeek, they were able to create a carrier-based version of the J-35 fighter and also improve the land-based version, which takes off from regular airfields.

His team is conducting in-depth research on large language models to solve complex problems based on practical needs.

Given the use of artificial intelligence, this is likely one of the reasons why China is already actively testing its sixth-generation fighter, which is increasingly appearing in the country’s skies.

Militarnyi previously reported that the Chinese aircraft manufacturing company Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group continued testing the prototype of the heavy three-engine fighter J-36.

As previously noted, the aircraft is equipped with three engines with flat nozzles. It features a dual-wheel nose landing gear and a twin-wheel main landing gear, indicating its significant weight.
