China’s UBTECH Launched Factory Capable of Producing Humanoid Robot Every 10 Minutes

The Chinese company UBTECH has launched a facility in Liuzhou for the mass production of humanoid robots, with a planned annual production capacity of over 10,000 units.

The company UBTECH announced the facility’s commissioning.

At the projected rate, the 14,000 m² plant is capable of producing one robot approximately every 10 minutes.

The facility will produce industrial robots from the Walker S family, as well as robots from the Cruzr series. UBTECH plans to use them primarily in industrial manufacturing and logistics.

Local authorities call the plant the world’s first specialized smart factory for industrial humanoid robots. UBTECH also collaborated with Siemens to create a digital manufacturing platform for the plant.

Scaling up production

Back in December 2025, the 1,000th Walker S2 rolled off the assembly line at the UBTECH plant in Liuzhou. It took the company about half a year to produce the first thousand units.

The Walker S2 stands 1.76 meters tall and is designed for use in manufacturing environments. The robot is capable of moving autonomously, handling loads, interacting with manufacturing equipment, and working alongside other robots. The model is also equipped with an autonomous battery replacement system, which enables continuous operation without delays for recharging.

UBTECH robots are already being used at automotive manufacturing facilities in China. Specifically, the Walker is operating on the production lines at Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, where it performs operations involving the movement, sorting, and feeding of components.

In November 2025, UBTECH secured a 264 million yuan contract to supply primarily Walker S2 units for a project in the border town of Fangchenggang on the China-Vietnam border. Among the officially stated tasks of the robots are patrolling/inspecting posts, managing crowds at border checkpoints, logistics, and other functions.

At the same time, there is currently no open-source evidence confirming that the PLA or Chinese defense industry enterprises are directly using the Walker.

The People’s Liberation Army of China is actively introducing UGVs into the military sphere; in particular, the Super Athlete AS2-W was used during the joint Sino-Mongolian military exercises “Steppe Partner 2026” as a combat reconnaissance and fire support drone.

Ukraine has also become involved in developing its own humanoid robots — Brave1 CEO Andriy Hrytsenyuk announced in July during the Brave1 Advantage event that Ukraine would hold a grant competition aimed at creating humanoid robots for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
