Two suspects were detained in Warsaw and charged with recruiting individuals on behalf of a foreign intelligence service. The detainees are 19-year-old Belarusian citizen Alyaksei B. and 44-year-old Polish citizen Rafal G.

This was reported by the Polish Prosecutor’s Office.

The prosecutor charged the suspects with acting on behalf of a foreign intelligence service in 2024–2025 in Warsaw and other locations across the country.

Their activities involved recruiting individuals of various nationalities to carry out sabotage operations on Polish territory. In exchange for completing the assigned tasks, the perpetrators received payment in cryptocurrency.

In particular, the recruited individuals photographed critical infrastructure facilities and other locations of key importance to the security of the state and its citizens.

According to the Internal Security Agency, the goal of these activities is not only to gather information but also to intimidate immigrant communities and amplify the propaganda of countries hostile to Poland, in particular, as emphasized by Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services, Belarus.

A similar incident occurred on May 20, when three citizens of the country were detained on charges of spying for the Russian Federation.
