The Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia organized the shipment of Bandvagn 202 amphibious tracked all-terrain vehicles for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Embassy shared that the all-terrain vehicles were purchased in Norway thanks to donations from the Latvian community in Chicago.
The Latvian volunteer organization SOS palīdzība Ukrainai also joined the shipment.
“The all-terrain vehicles are designed to transport personnel and equipment in snowy conditions and marshy terrain,” the Embassy noted.
Ambassador of Ukraine Anatoliy Kutsevol expressed his gratitude to the Latvian society and all caring citizens abroad whose donations helped to provide Ukrainian defenders with the necessary equipment for combat operations.
This is not the first batch of Bandvagn 202s that the Latvian community in Chicago purchased for Ukraine.
In 2023, all-terrain vehicles were purchased from the Norwegian army’s decommissioned equipment warehouse, where the organization managed to buy four Bandvagn all-terrain vehicles.
Four vehicles were transferred to the 115th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The project’s total cost is €76 thousand.
The Bandvagn 202 is an amphibious oversnow tracked articulated all-terrain vehicle developed in Sweden by Volvo for the transportation of personnel.
The vehicle has a payload of one ton and can accommodate 10 people. Another feature of this vehicle is its amphibious capabilities.
It can move through water at speeds of up to 6 km/h, which provides unsurpassed off-road capabilities in difficult conditions.
In 2023, Germany handed over a military aid package to Ukraine, which included, among other things, the first Bandvagn 206 all-terrain vehicles.
