Azov Brigade Receives Finnish PMPV 6×6 MiSu Armored Vehicle

Ukraine’s 12th Special Forces Azov Brigade of the National Guard has received a Finnish PMPV 6×6 MiSu armored vehicle.

The brigade’s press service published photographs of the vehicle.

The Finnish armored vehicle has been fitted with additional protection against drones, including slat armor and rubber elements.

The transfer of the vehicle to Ukraine had not previously been publicly reported, making this the first confirmed appearance of this model in service with Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Finnish company Protolab Oy developed the PMPV 6×6. The name stands for Protected Multi-Purpose Vehicle.

The vehicle has a combat weight of about 14 tons and can carry 12 personnel — two crew members and 10 troops — or up to 8 tons of cargo.

The PMPV 6×6 MiSu provides Level 4 protection under the STANAG 4569 standard, designed to withstand hits from 14.5 mm rounds and blasts from explosive charges weighing up to 10 kilograms beneath a wheel or under the hull.

The situation with the PMPV 6×6 MiSu is similar to that of another Finnish armored vehicle, the SISU GTP 4×4, which is operated by Ukraine’s 8th Special Operations Regiment. In both cases, the transfer of the vehicles was not officially announced, and the exact number of vehicles delivered remains unknown.

According to the Military Journal Telegram channel, the first indications that Ukraine might receive vehicles of this type emerged in May 2026. At the time, an armored vehicle was displayed at a presentation with a Ukrainian flag on its door.

It is worth noting that although Finland has provided military aid to Ukraine, the contents of its aid packages are traditionally classified, so the exact number and types of equipment delivered are not disclosed.

One such unexpected transfer was the RBS-15 coastal anti-ship missile system, which the Ukrainian Navy used in April to strike the Russian drilling platform Sivash.

Judging by its camouflage pattern, the vehicle shown previously appears to have served with the Finnish Navy.
