German investigators are linking the arson near the offices of defense companies Rohde & Schwarz and Helsing in Munich to Russian military intelligence.

This was reported by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, citing sources in German security services.

On the night of September 3, incendiary devices were thrown from a moving vehicle onto a construction site near the companies’ headquarters.

Police officers who responded to the call extinguished the fire. The fire caused only minor property damage; no one was injured.

While inspecting the scene, law enforcement officers found another incendiary device that had not detonated. It was subsequently neutralized.

Thereafter, law enforcement officers detained two Bulgarian citizens—a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man—at a gas station. According to the publication’s sources, they may have been part of a group linked to Russian military intelligence that was operating out of Slovakia.

Investigators also believe that this Russian organization was involved in the incident in Munich and the August events involving drones in Leipzig.

This would mark the second suspected sabotage operation by Russian military intelligence in Germany in recent times.

Rohde & Schwarz is a German technology and defense company that develops secure military communications systems, electronic intelligence and countermeasures, as well as systems for detecting and countering drones.

Helsing develops artificial intelligence systems and drones, which are supplied, among others, to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In September, a drone was also discovered in Germany after it crashed near Wunstorf Air Base in Lower Saxony. The drone may have been equipped with explosives.

The airbase is home to A400M military transport aircraft, which transport troops and cargo around the world.
