Military personnel of the Armed Forces of the so-called Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) have started to master FPV drones.

Local propaganda outlets, while covering the Conscription Day event, showed a photo of a young man in military uniform at a computer simulator for drone control.

It is stated that the event had taken place at a military school and military units in the city of Tiraspol, without specifying which ones exactly.

During the demonstration, schoolchildren from the city of Rîbnița (a temporarily controlled settlement of the so-called Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in Moldova) were shown photos of cadets learning to operate FPV drones.

Such a “tour” was also organized for schoolchildren from the Moldovan city of Kamyanka, which is currently under the control of the “Transnistrian Moldovan Republic.”

This is not a new event for the occupation administration; it is held regularly. However, previously, the schoolchildren visited local military units, and since this year, they have been centrally brought to Tiraspol.

In addition to the mentioned military school, the schoolchildren were also shown demonstrations at military units in Tiraspol. The propagandists do not name them, but the main ones are located in the city. Among them are:

  • 1st Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade (military unit 10524)
  • Artillery Regiment (military unit 60387)
  • Special Forces Battalion of the Armed Forces of the so-called Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (military unit 11065)
  • Various security and supply units

More about the army of the so-called ‘PMR’ can be read in the author’s columns ‘The Armed Forces of the ‘Transnistrian Moldovan Republic’: a real threat or a great exaggeration?‘ and ‘The Army of the ‘PMR’: who serves and are they ready to fight with Ukraine.’

The photos show the presence of Chinese-made commercial Mavic 3 drones in the PMR units, which are widely used on the battlefield in Ukraine.

Thus, it can be stated that Russian military curators in the illegal formation on the territory of Moldova want to have a controlled regime and its security forces according to the modern battlefield.

It is unknown to what extent the preparation with the corresponding technical means aligns with current realities. However, it can be confidently stated that even at this level, it is not being conducted in the Moldovan army, or at least not being demonstrated.
