The Shahed attack drones used by the Russian Federation to attack Ukraine on the night of September 5 flew into the airspace of Belarus.

At least one of them was shot down over the city of Gomel.

The Belaruski Gayun monitoring group reported on this.

After 1 a.m., it was reported that two Russian kamikaze drones had entered the Gomel region of Belarus from the Chernihiv region of Ukraine and were moving toward Gomel.

“…at around 01:30 a.m., another fighter jet was taken off from the Baranovichi military air base,” the monitoring group notes.

Later, around 01:34 a.m. and 01:36 a.m., local residents heard explosions in Gomel.

Shortly thereafter, a video was posted on social media showing one of the Shahed drones allegedly being shot down. The footage shows a fiery trail of falling drones in the sky.

Later, the Belaruski Gayun monitoring group reported the entry of another Shahed attack drone into Belarusian airspace at around 02:28 a.m. It was allegedly heading in the direction of Khoiniki and was attempted to be shot down by a Belarusian fighter jet over the Gomel region.

Another Russian Shahed drone’s flight to the same area was reported after 3 a.m. At 03:10 a.m., a Belarusian fighter jet also took off from the Baranovichi military air base to intercept it.

It is worth noting that Russian Shahed drones started flying into Belarus this summer, as evidenced by reports from both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Belaruski Gayun monitoring group.

On the night of August 29, the Belarusian Air Force intercepted a Russian Shahed kamikaze drone over its territory. According to their information, during another missile attack on Ukraine, a Russian kamikaze drone flew into the airspace of the Republic of Belarus in the Yelsk district.

After entering the airspace of Belarus, the drone stayed there for about 20 minutes.
