Nine Countries Join Ukraine in Forming the Anti-Ballistic Coalition

Ukraine and nine European countries have formed the Anti-Ballistic Coalition, which will accelerate the development of air defense systems.

This was reported on the website of the President of the French Republic.

The coalition includes Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

“Recognizing the growing threat posed by ballistic missiles, as well as the increasing importance of defense capabilities for the security of the European continent, we are announcing today the creation of a purely defensive anti-ballistic missile coalition,” the statement reads.

The countries agreed to pool their defense-industrial potential, research and development capabilities, and operational experience to build joint European capabilities in the field of ballistic missile defense.

The coalition aims to develop a comprehensive solution in the form of an integrated missile defense architecture capable of deterring and neutralizing future missile threats.

It will complement existing missile defense systems, including national European solutions that have already been or will be acquired by participating states.

“By combining our defense-industrial potential, research and development capabilities, and operational experience, we aim to create joint European capabilities in the field of anti-ballistic defense,” the statement reads.

The signatories of the Declaration aim to define common operational requirements, establish technical working groups, implement clear governance mechanisms, and develop a roadmap to achieve the Coalition’s first operational capabilities.

The Coalition remains open to other states that share its principles and objectives.

Ukraine is likely to propose Fire Point’s Freya project to the coalition.

The project’s goal is to create a unified, pan-European, secure air and missile defense system. To this end, the FP-7.x interceptor missile has already been developed.
