Ukraine and Russia conducted their 75th prisoner exchange. A total of 185 Ukrainian defenders were released from Russian captivity.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Separately, one Ukrainian civilian, whom the Russians had held captive since 2022, was also successfully returned to his homeland.
Those returning home included servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specifically soldiers of the Ukrainian Navy, the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the Air Assault Forces, the Territorial Defense Forces, the Special Operations Forces, and the Military Police (Ukrainian Military Law-Enforcement Service (VSP), as well as fighters from the National Guard of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Most of the defenders released today were taken prisoner in 2022, some of them during the defense of Mariupol.
Among those released is a participant in a unique helicopter operation—the air bridge to Azovstal.
In total, Ukrainians who fought in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kursk sectors are returning home.
The youngest released prisoner is 26 years old, and the oldest is 62. Among the defenders released today are two officers.
The United States and the United Arab Emirates facilitated the exchange and the return of the Ukrainians home.
All those released will undergo a medical examination, receive treatment, be provided with necessary supplies for the time being, receive appropriate compensation, and undergo rehabilitation and reintegration into society after prolonged isolation in Russian captivity.
