In June, the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade captured Colombian nationals who Russia had recruited.
The brigade reported this on social media.
It is claimed that a total of six Colombian nationals surrendered to Ukrainian soldiers. Two of them are siblings.
“The younger brother surrendered first. From the position, he contacted his relatives and informed them of his status,” the brigade stated.
After that, the family members asked the older brother to surrender, and he convinced four more of his compatriots to lay down their arms.
According to the commander of the 3rd Battalion’s 3rd Squad, the Colombians were threatened with death in Russia if they refused to assault Ukrainian positions.
As previously reported, after 100 days of defending positions, soldiers of the 61st Mechanized Brigade captured a Russian serviceman during withdrawal.
