The Wolf 25 AD anti-drone system was presented at the IDET-2025 international exhibition in the Czech Republic.

Its developers and manufacturers shared details with a Militarnyi correspondent during the event.

According to them, the vehicle has already undergone a series of tests, and its declared characteristics have been confirmed.

The primary purpose of the Wolf 25 AD is to protect columns of various types of combat vehicles on the march and in the offensive, as well as to perform air defense functions.

Wolf base chassis

For operations as part of a combat vehicle group, the system is based on the Slovakian Wolf vehicle, which is positioned as an MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected) with mine protection and a V-shaped bottom.

In the basic version, the armored vehicle has a range of 1,000 km, can carry up to 10 people, including the driver, and can be fitted with various equipment as required.

Independent 4×4 suspension and a 6.7-liter engine with 450 horsepower give the vehicle high cross-country capability and maneuverability, which is especially important on the battlefield.

Mangart 25 AD combat module

The Slovenian company Valhalla Turrets developed the Mangart 25 AD. It is based on a 25 mm cannon (caliber 25×133 mm) with dual power supply.

It uses various types of ammunition:

  • high-explosive incendiary tracer (HEI-T),
  • armor-piercing (SAPHE),
  • fragmentation-armor-piercing sub-caliber tracer (FAPDS-T),
  • armor-piercing fin-stabilized sub-caliber tracer (APFSDS-T),
  • and contact-fuse high-explosive (PX HE).

The Lotus Lite optical-electronic station is used for visual detection and guidance. It has day and night cameras, a thermal imager, and a rangefinder.

Their characteristics are sufficient for detection and recognition under normal visibility during daylight hours at ranges of:

  • armored vehicles — up to 13.2 km,
  • people — up to 7.1 km,
  • DJI Phantom UAV — up to 2.9 km.

Various guided missile weapons can also be integrated into the combat module as needed: anti-tank or anti-aircraft missiles.

The Mangart 25 AD combat module is already in service in Slovenia on the JLTV chassis for air defense tasks.

It has already been further developed into the Mangart 30 combat module, which is equipped with a 30 mm automatic cannon and a 7.62 mm machine gun.

In Slovenia, it is already being mounted on the Patria AMV chassis.

Wolf 25 AD

The combination of the chassis and the combat module might seem like the final stage in the creation of a combat vehicle, but that is not the case. The developers have integrated several additional systems into the anti-drone system.

The most important of these is the multifunctional S-band AESA radar. Its antennas can track up to 150 air targets around the vehicle in a 360° sector.

According to the technical specifications, the system is capable of detecting targets at the following ranges:

  • fighter jets — up to 20 km,
  • helicopters — up to 12 km,
  • missiles — up to 10 km,
  • Lancet-type drones — up to 8–10 km,
  • reconnaissance drones — up to 5 km,
  • microdrones (FPV or commercial quadcopter type) — up to 5 km.

The developers assure that the machine has already been tested against FPV drones: conventional 25 mm ammunition successfully intercepted FPV drones at ranges of up to 350 meters.

Thus, the machine was created in accordance with the challenges of the modern battlefield, particularly in Ukraine.
