47th Brigade shot down Russian Ka-52 helicopter

Ukrainian air defenses shot down a Russian Ka-52 helicopter in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade said that their soldier shot down a Ka-52 helicopter from a portable anti-aircraft missile system.

It is likely that the Russian attack helicopter was destroyed in the direction of the village of Robotyne, for which the 47th Brigade is fighting fiercely.

The loss of the Ka-52 helicopter on August 7 was confirmed by a Russian military pilot in the Telegram group Helicopterpilot.

“To be a warrior means to live forever,” they wrote under the photo of the Ka-52 helicopter, which probably indicates the deaths of Russian pilots.

The helicopter crew consists of two people (pilot and navigator-operator). Ejection of crew members from the Ka-52 cockpit is possible at altitudes from 0 to 4100 m.

This is not the first Ka-52 helicopter hit by the 47th Mechanized Brigade “Magura”.

At the beginning of July, it was reported that the brigade’s air defense fighters shot down an Su-25 jet aircraft and four Ka-52 helicopters.

As previously reported, the 47th Mechanized Brigade “Magura” has received Swedish RBS 70 air defense systems.

These systems have already been used in combat, and, presumably, helped shoot down several Russian air targets.

The RBS 70 is a short-range portable anti-aircraft missile system. A laser system guides the missiles: its beam serves as a path for the missile to follow.

The key advantage of the system is its ability to operate effectively in conditions of infrared or EW countermeasures.
