A powerful explosion in a warehouse in an industrial zone in Swindon occurred on the evening of September 24.
“The incident occurred at around 19:30 in a warehouse at a business in the Groundwell zone on Crompton Road,” GBNEWS reports.
After the explosion, the warehouse caught fire, with flames visible from several kilometers away, according to eyewitnesses cited by local news channels.
Local residents confirmed this in their social media posts. They wrote that their houses “literally shook” after the explosion.
More than ten fire trucks and specialized vehicles of the fire and rescue service arrived at the scene.
The police have urged residents of nearby buildings to stay at home, close all windows and avoid the industrial zone.
Evacuations were carried out only for residents of the areas immediately adjacent to the explosion site.
“Firefighters are working to localize the fire. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation, and there is no information on any injuries,” the British media reported.
The sources also noted that the situation remains tense: rescue and investigative services continue, and the public is awaiting official updates from the police and firefighters.
Wiltshire Police reported that the incident was “serious” and a large security cordon was set up in the industrial zone.
Last week, the London Police Counterterrorism Unit detained three citizens on suspicion of assisting Russian intelligence.
