Wagner PMC owner in person recruits Russian prisoners to war in Ukraine

A video of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the owner of Wagner PMC, who personally recruits prisoners in Russia for the war in Ukraine, appeared in the public domain.

In the video, a Russian oligarch and a confidant of Vladimir Putin says that they accept prisoners aged 22 to 50 years old with possible exceptions.

Yevgeny Prigozhin campaigns and warns that mercenaries have no right to retreat and appear alive in captivity.

The so-called PMC Wagner (Liga ed.) accepts only “assault fighters” — the fighters who should be the first to attack the defensive positions of the enemy.

“We only need assault fighters, 60 percent of my guys are stormtroopers, and you will be one of them,” Prigozhin tells the prisoners.

Prigozhin says that the Wagner PMC is armed with aircraft of several types, MLRS, tanks and other necessary weapons for the offensive.

Russian prisoners who agree to fight in Ukraine are promised to grant clemency and release home in half a year, despite the severity of their crime, for which they were imprisoned.

Yevgeny Prigozhin also admits that they carry out executions of their fighters.

“There are no options to return to the prison. Who comes on the first day and says: “I’ve made the wrong turn,” we’ve marked them as deserters and after that there is an execution,” says Prigozhin.

Prigozhin is called the owner of Russian mercenaries from the so-called Wagner PMC. He’s also known as “Putin’s cook” because of his large business in the hospitality industry and earnings on government contracts.

Now the Russian military leadership is trying to compensate for the losses on the fronts of the war in Ukraine with prisoners.

Prisoners are offered an amnesty after three months of service in units participating in hostilities on Ukrainian territory. For career criminals or those convicted of serious crimes, this period is six months.
