In Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, military cadets have started training to operate FPV drones using simulators.

A video showing the training of future drone operators was released by military analyst Jorge Rojas.

According to reports, the Commander of the Venezuelan Army, General Johan Hernández Lares, asked cadets at the military academy to demonstrate their skills on FPV drone simulators.

The training stations use one of the most popular commercial simulators – FPV Kamikaze drone, which is available on Steam.

This is the first publicly known instance in which Venezuela has confirmed work on introducing FPV drones into its army. The efforts were likely accelerated due to the heightened tensions with the United States.

According to military analyst, Venezuela is one of the few countries in Latin America – and possibly the only one – that openly showcases an active training program for cadets to operate FPV drones.

Earlier in November, a Russian Il-76 military transport aircraft under sanctions arrived in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas. The Il-76, registered as RA-78765, landed shortly after President Nicolás Maduro appealed to Russia, China, and Iran for military assistance.
