The USA and Qatar are negotiating with Kyiv on the purchase of Ukrainian acoustic systems for detecting Shahed drones and electronic warfare equipment.
This was reported by Reuters, citing its sources.
According to them, the negotiations are currently at the intergovernmental level, rather than with the companies that manufacture the relevant systems.
In addition to interceptor drones, the negotiations concern technologies that allow UAVs to be detected at an early stage by sound signals — acoustic sensors.
They also concern electronic warfare (EW) equipment used by Ukraine to suppress the navigation and control signals of Russian drones, in particular the Shahed type.
The publication notes that this week, a Ukrainian delegation visited Doha and Abu Dhabi to present methods of countering Iranian drones and discuss potential supplies.
Ukraine has received an official request from the US government to provide such support in the Middle East.
Western media also reported that the United States and the Persian Gulf countries are negotiating the purchase of Ukrainian interceptor drones.
It was the Ukrainian Defense Forces that were the first to use such serial drones, costing several thousand dollars, to destroy Russian versions of Iranian Shahed drones.
In December, Militarnyi reported that the Ukrainian company ARes had created an acoustic targeting system capable of detecting drones and missiles in difficult conditions.
The system is designed to detect various types of drones, either FPV drones or Shaheds.
According to the developers, the system is capable of tracking several air targets simultaneously, even in noisy urban environments.
