US Special Operations MH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter Crashes

A U.S. Army MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a training flight.

Denver7 reported on this, citing a U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command spokesperson and the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on August 25 on the eastern slope of Thorodin Mountain in Colorado.

Four people were aboard the aircraft, and none were injured in the crash.

An investigation has been launched to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.

The helicopter belonged to the U.S. Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, known as the Night Stalkers.

This elite unit specializes in nap-of-the-earth night flights and provides aviation support to special operations forces, including SEAL Team 6 and Delta Force.

To perform its missions, the regiment uses specially modified versions of helicopters, including the MH-60M Black Hawk.

These aircraft are equipped with more powerful engines, advanced aerial refueling systems, EW devices, and the latest electro-optical systems.

The MH-60 Black Hawk’s primary role in the unit is the covert insertion, deployment, and evacuation of assault groups in challenging terrain and weather conditions.

In July, an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter that was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush made an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea.

Three out of the four helicopter’s crew members were found and evacuated from the water.
