Danish police conducted a large-scale search around the private home of Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus after an unidentified drone was reported nearby.
Nyheder TV 2 reported this.
On the morning of September 16, a large number of police officers arrived in Gladsaxe, a Copenhagen suburb, after a drone was reportedly spotted near the minister’s home.
Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus later confirmed that police carried out the operation in response to the report. Bruus has headed Denmark’s Ministry of Defense since June 2026.
Following the search, police identified the device as a hobby drone. The minister said the situation was under control, after which law enforcement officers ended the operation.
No hostile activity or deliberate surveillance of the minister was reported. Denmark’s Ministry of Defense has not commented on the incident.
The incident occurred amid heightened attention in Denmark to drone-related threats. In July, Russia was suspected of using tankers to launch drones over sensitive sites in Europe, including in Denmark.
Copenhagen police announced temporary restrictions on drone flights over a large part of the capital in connection with a meeting of the NATO Military Committee on September 18-19. Similar restrictions were imposed last year in connection with an EU summit held in Denmark.
The measure was also introduced to enhance security amid an earlier incident involving unidentified drones near the Danish-German border.
