On the night of December 2, four unidentified drones violated the no-fly zone near Dublin Airport.

The incident occurred just as the plane of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was about to land, The Journal reports.

The liner landed a little earlier than planned, which actually saved it from crossing the drone zone.

According to the sources, the drones reached the point where the plane was supposed to fly and then began circling the Irish Navy ship, which was secretly deployed in the Irish Sea to ensure the safety of the visit.

It has been preliminarily established that the drones started from the northeast of Dublin, probably from the Howth area, and stayed in the air for up to two hours. Investigators are looking into whether they were launched from land or from an undetected vessel.

Their appearance with lights on led security forces to assume that the goal was to disrupt and destabilize the arrival of the Ukrainian president.

They did not shoot down the drones, as there were no means of neutralizing them on board the LÉ William Butler Yeats. The only means were the ship’s machine guns, but no decision was made to use force.
