Ukrainian air defense forces hit a Russian combat helicopter.
The aircraft was shot down in the area of the positions of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade.
“Another helicopter was shot down while attempting an air raid on our positions,” the mountain assault infantry said.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the Ka-52 helicopter was shot down.
“On the eastern front, our soldiers destroyed the Russian Ка-52 helicopter. Let’s stand and win,” – states the message.
Another helicopter, probably Mi-8 arrived to evacuate the crew from damage.
The military said that it was damaged, but managed to fly away.
Russian sources also confirm the loss of a helicopter in the combat zone.
According to Russian sources, the Mi-24 helicopter was shot down, not Ка-52.
In February, President Zelensky assigned the honorary name “Edelweiss” to the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade stationed in Kolomyia in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The 10th Mountain Assault Brigade is part of the Ground Forces of Ukraine. It was formed on October 1, 2015.
The main purpose of the brigade is to conduct hostilities in a mountainous and wooded area. Soldiers of the brigade have participated in hostilities in the Donbas since 2016.
