Ukrainian Interceptor Drone Catches Up With and Destroys a Lancet Maneuvering Drone

A Ukrainian interceptor drone caught up to and destroyed a Russian Lancet strike drone that was trying to maneuver to evade an attack.

The WarArchive Telegram group posted a video of the interceptor’s operation recorded by a reconnaissance drone.

Despite active maneuvers and attempts to evade, the interceptor quickly catches up with the Lancet and destroys it in the air with a powerful explosion.

Lancet drones have long been a serious problem for the Ukrainian army, as their effectiveness depends on their technical characteristics and operational tactics.

These UAVs are capable of flying autonomously along a given route or being guided to a target by coordinates.

For several years, the Ukrainian army had limited capabilities to counter these barrage munitions.

However, the investment in interceptor drones shows that Ukrainian forces are finding effective solutions to these Russian weapons.

In November, it was reported that Ukraine’s defense industry had launched mass production of the Octopus interceptor drone, capable of shooting down even Shahed drones.

It is planned to produce thousands of such drones per month for transfer to Ukraine.

Ukraine has also launched mass production of STING interceptor drones and created a training center to train its operators.

In the first four months of mass production, Ukraine’s defenders shot down more than a thousand Shahed and Gerber UAVs with STING drones.

Deployment of the system takes up to 15 minutes. The drone without a catapult launches from any flat surface, gains altitude in seconds, and instantly catches up with the Shahed.
