A Ukrainian drone strike on oil infrastructure in Sochi on September 4, 2026, destroyed nine oil storage tanks and also struck Russian air defense positions.
The relevant satellite images were published by the Absolutely Reliable Source Telegram channel.
At a Rosneft oil depot in Sochi, the drones destroyed six fuel storage tanks: two RVS-2000 tanks and four RVS-1000 tanks.
In addition, aircraft and other aviation equipment stationed at the airfield were damaged. Two helicopters and two radar stations were damaged.
The oil depot is located in the immediate vicinity of Sochi (Adler) Airport.
The company handles the receipt, storage, quality control, and refueling of aircraft with aviation fuel at airports across Krasnodar Krai.
According to earlier satellite imagery, the oil depot had also been reinforced with additional anti-drone structures and protective netting intended to prevent attacks. However, these measures failed to provide adequate protection.
At another oil depot operated by LLC Lukoil-Yugnaftoprodukt, three RVS-400 storage tanks were destroyed and damaged as a result of the attack.
The oil depot contains 12 storage tanks with a total capacity of approximately 8,400 cubic meters. The facility is used for storing petroleum products.
Russian S-300 air defense systems were also hit in the attack. According to satellite imagery, signs of impact and detonation are visible at the positions.
The attack on these oil depots took place during the night of September 4.
Sochi has not been targeted by Ukrainian strikes for the first time. The city is home to an oil complex that plays an important role in supplying fuel to the Russian military and aviation.
