A prototype of a new unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) developed by Danish-Ukrainian company Dropla Tech has been tested in Denmark.

The Danish Armed Forces said the trials of various drones marked the culmination of a six-month innovation project.

As part of the project, the Armed Forces worked with several companies to develop new drones tailored to the military’s operational requirements.

Dropla Tech presented an evacuation and logistics UGV with a 6×6 wheel configuration for the trials.

“UGVs are already playing a significant role in Ukraine, and it can be assumed that if we were ever to find ourselves at war, the conditions would be similar,” the Danish military said.

UGVs can perform a wide range of battlefield missions. One of their key roles is reconnaissance and enemy surveillance, allowing troops to focus on other, more complex tasks.

Dropla Tech’s six-wheeled UGV was one of three unmanned ground vehicles developed during the six-month collaboration.

The innovation project and the partnership between the Danish Armed Forces, industry, and research institutions were initiated by the Danish national cluster CenSec – Center for Defence, Space & Security. With innovation funding from the Danish Board of Business Development, CenSec oversaw the project’s implementation.

The initiative is part of the Production Development Denmark program, which aims, among other objectives, to develop specialized Danish-made solutions for the Danish Armed Forces.

The six-wheeled drone developed by Dropla Tech originally had only four wheels, but following recommendations from the Armed Forces, it was upgraded with two additional wheels to improve stability.

“When we participate in innovation projects with industry, we gain better access to the knowledge and products already being developed by the Danish defense industry,” the military noted.

Dropla Tech was founded in 2023 by four Ukrainian entrepreneurs. The startup’s success was made possible through its partnership with the BRAVE1 cluster, which provided access to real battlefield data for training artificial intelligence algorithms and testing solutions under field conditions. Today, a team of dozens of specialists works simultaneously in Denmark and Ukraine, combining European technology with Ukrainian combat experience and support from government-backed innovation programs.
