Ukrainian border guards have received drones from their Latvian colleagues.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported this.

The new drones were transferred as part of cooperation with the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

“The grant project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia on the transfer of unmanned aerial vehicles for the needs of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is currently being implemented,” the press service of the border guards notes.

Border guards ensure documentation of the assistance, check the equipment and immediately send the copters to the units that need them.

“The modification of the provided drones is well known to our border guards, so effective use will not require additional training of operator personnel,” the statement reads.

The released photos show that it is a DJI Mavic quadcopter drone.

As previously reported, € 900,000 was collected in Latvia to purchase the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drone for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be spent to purchase drones produced by the local company Atlas Aerospace, as this amount is not enough for the purchase of a Turkish drone.

The organizers of the campaign planned to raise €5 million to purchase the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drone, but this amount could not be collected.

According to one of the initiators of the campaign, musician Ralf Eilands, taking into account the situation in which Latvian donors are on the eve of winter and with the change in the situation at the front, the funds collected so far will be directed to the purchase of Atlas Pro drones.

Artis Pabriks, Latvian Defense Minister, also noted that the situation in the war is changing every day. It takes a long time to raise the €5 million needed to purchase the Bayraktar TB2, and the needs on the frontline are already urging.

In total, it is planned to send 15 sets of Atlas PRO drones of the Latvian Atlas Aerospace and 15 cars to Ukraine. Each of these kits consists of three drones, so the total number of the transferred copters will be 45. Drones will serve for reconnaissance and communication.
