Ukraine’s Defense Forces Destroy Ka-52 and Mi-28 and Hit Mi-8 in Sochi

Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed Russian Ka-52 and Mi-28 attack helicopters and hit a Mi-8 family multirole helicopter at Sochi International Airport.

Satellite imagery of the damage was published by the Absolutely Reliable Source Telegram channel.

The Ukrainian drone strike on Sochi took place on Sept. 4, 2026. The main targets of the strike were Sochi International Airport, nearby oil infrastructure and Russian air defense positions.

At the BATO oil depot near Sochi (Adler) Airport, drones destroyed six fuel tanks: two RVS-2000 tanks and four RVS-1000 tanks. The company receives, stores and quality-controls aviation fuel and refuels aircraft at airports in Krasnodar Krai. A Lukoil oil depot was also hit, where drones destroyed and damaged three RVS-400 tanks.

In addition, during the attack, Ukraine’s Defense Forces hit an S-300 or S-400 surface-to-air missile system, causing one of its launchers to detonate.

Earlier, two radar stations at the airport itself were also reported to have been hit, including the airport surveillance radar (ORL-A).

The radar belongs to the Black Sea Air Traffic Management Center and is used to detect and track aircraft and control air traffic in the Sochi area.
