Ukraine Struck Russia’s Largest Oil Refinery in Omsk

The Gazpromneft-ONPZ Omsk Oil Refinery, Russia’s largest oil refinery located in Omsk has been struck by Ukrainian attack drones.

Analysts of Dnipro Osint reported that FP-1 drones had struck the ELOU-AVT-11 unit at the Gazpromneft-ONPZ Omsk Oil Refinery. In order to reach the target, the drones had to travel over 2,500 km from the Ukrainian border.

The strikes have hit the unit’s process columns. The refinery has a capacity of 8.4 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

Until now, the Gazpromneft-ONPZ Omsk Oil Refinery had been one of only two facilities among the top ten largest Russian refineries that had never been struck by Ukrainian drones.

The other such facility is the Angarsk Petrochemical Company in the Irkutsk region. Both refineries are located beyond the Urals. High hopes had been pinned on the Gazpromneft-ONPZ Omsk Oil Refinery to help alleviate the fuel crisis.

Furthermore, it is the only Russian refinery that produces cracking catalysts, which are components that other facilities depend on for secondary oil refining.
