On the outskirts of Chasiv Yar, Ukrainian forces spotted a convoy of Russian troops and immediately launched an attack.
The 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade performed the operation in coordination with the 427th RAROG Unmanned Systems Brigade.
Over 20 Russian soldiers were openly advancing from the direction of Bakhmut.
FPV drones were quickly deployed against the column, destroying a trailer carrying an ATV and later targeting some of the infantry.
Footage from the Russians’ own cameras shows a Ukrainian drone hitting one soldier, with debris striking others nearby.
Although Russia controls the eastern and central parts of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, Ukraine partially holds the western part of the city.
Chasiv Yar holds operational significance for both sides of the conflict.
For Russia, capturing the city would open new approaches to Kostiantynivka.
Chasiv Yar is a crucial part of Ukraine’s defensive line, preventing Russian forces from moving beyond Bakhmut.
Russian attacks on the city began in April 2024, following the fall of Bakhmut.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of May 13, Russian forces launched 31 attacks in the Kostiantynivka sector.
