U.S. Army Tests GEREON UGV Proven in Ukraine

ARX Robotics UK has successfully participated in Project Convergence–Capstone 6, the U.S. Army’s largest-ever experiment to evaluate emerging military technologies.

The company confirmed the participation to Militarnyi.

As part of the exercise’s operational and experimental phases, ARX Robotics UK deployed eight GEREON unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).

The deployed GEREON UGVs supported reconnaissance, counter-UAS, electronic warfare (EW), logistics, and casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) missions.

Data collected by the GEREON UGVs was integrated into brigade-, division-, and corps-level networks, demonstrating the platform’s ability to operate as part of broader allied force structures.

According to the manufacturer, GEREON successfully completed all training scenarios, demonstrating its ability to operate at extended ranges in the harsh desert environment of Fort Irwin and across challenging terrain while remaining connected to allied communications, command, and control (C2) networks.

The developer stated that ARX Robotics will use the experience gained during Project Convergence–Capstone 6 (PC-C6) to support the further development of the GEREON platform, its Mithra operating system, and future software-defined ground autonomy concepts.

The U.S. Army’s Project Convergence–Capstone 6 (PC-C6), conducted at Fort Irwin, California, brought together allied forces from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The event evaluated more than 100 emerging battlefield technologies at operational scale to validate the U.S. Army’s next-generation command-and-control (C2) architecture and enhance interoperability among allied forces.

The GEREON UGV is a multipurpose tracked modular platform capable of carrying payloads of up to 500 kg over distances of up to 40 km.

During the exercise, the systems carried a range of mission payloads, including L3Harris‘ CORVUS-RAVEN electronic warfare (EW) system, MyDefence’s Watchdog counter-UAS sensors, and Overview’s Podview system for reconnaissance and target acquisition.

By integrating the Ukrainian Buria remote weapon station (RWS) configured for the Mk 19 40 mm automatic grenade launcher onto the GEREON platform, the system can provide remote fire support.

The transfer of GEREON UGVs to Ukraine was first announced on November 27, 2024.

The company also plans to expand its GEREON UGV fleet in Ukraine by a factor of five.
