The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine launch another Offensive Guard brigade

On the basis of the Luhansk border detachment, another Offensive Guard brigade was created.

This was reported in the State Border Service of Ukraine.

The new military unit was called Pomsta (Revenge – ed.).

For almost ten years, border guards of the Luhansk detachment with weapons have been defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

It was a detachment that held defense in Lugansk for the longest of all law enforcement agencies. In the early summer of 2014, pro-Russian militants stormed a location of the unit’s control for several days, firing from nearby houses.

Soldiers and commanders of the detachment hardened in battles on the hottest areas of the front of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Since the beginning of full-scale invasion, 5 servicemen of the border detachment have been awarded the honorary title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star, 4 of them posthumously.

Now the Luhansk border detachment has been reformed into a brigade of the Offensive Guard with the symbolic name Pomsta (Revenge – ed.).

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stressed that combat capabilities of the unit are significantly increased, with armored vehicles, special vehicles, anti-aircraft, artillery and anti-tank weapons, air reconnaissance systems and strike UAVs. The brigade also has electronic warfare and reconnaissance systems, modern MANPADS, sniper weapons, etc.

Servicemen of the Luhansk detachment have undergone numerous exercises and combat coordination, both in Ukraine and abroad. In particular, in the UK, Spain, Germany and other countries.

It is worth recalling that at the beginning of last year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine began the formation of assault brigades of the Offensive Guard as part of the National Police, the State Border Guard Service and the National Guard for strengthening Defense Forces and liberating occupied territories of Ukraine from Russian invaders.

Then the Steel Border Brigade was formed as part of the State Border Guard Service.
