Operators of the 73rd Naval Center of the Special Operations Forces conducted a Citadel special operation in the Black Sea.

During the night, the operation destroyed a radar station and Russian equipment on one of the production platforms off the coast of temporarily occupied Crimea.

This equipment helped the enemy conduct reconnaissance and attack southern Ukraine with drones.

The military reported that Ukrainian intelligence had learned that the Russians were using one of the illegally seized oil platforms in the Black Sea to enhance the operation of an Iranian-made Mohajer-6 UAV by installing equipment that increases its range and radius of operation.

“The enemy was using this UAV to conduct reconnaissance and subsequently launch strikes with Shahed kamikaze drones on critical infrastructure in southern Ukraine,” the SOF noted.

In addition, according to the military, the enemy installed a Neva-B radar for detecting surface objects on the platform, which was used by the Russians to control the situation in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.

After careful planning and preparation at night, the boats, with a group of operators from the 73rd Naval Center, approached the production platform.

“After conducting special operations and clearing the site, it was mined. The combat team moved to a safe distance and blew up the enemy target. As a result, important enemy equipment was captured, and a mast with an antenna was blown up,” the military said.

The Citadel special operation was conducted in the area of constant patrolling by the Russian air force and navy.

The Special Operations Forces added that the successful operation ensured the safer movement of ships and limited the enemy’s capabilities in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
