The russians confirm the damage to the Raptor-class boat near Mariupol

On March 21, 2022, the Azov Special Operations Detachment announced the destruction of the Project 03160 “Raptor” russian boat in the Mariupol area. The Detachment did not provide details of the enemy boat’s destruction.

The next day, the russian telegram channel Moryachok, which specializes in the russian navy, confirmed that Ukrainian Defense Forces’ fire had hit the boat.

The russians, however, deny that the boat sank.

Instead, it is reported that the boat is damaged and is being towed to Yeisk (a russian port in the Sea of Azov, Krasnodar region). This may mean that the damage is of such a level that the boat is disabled and cannot perform combat actions.

The russian side also reported two wounded.

The russians used Raptor-class boats to land in the port of Berdyansk.

“Raptor” – one the fastest boats of the russian Navy, which can reach speeds of up to 48 knots. Crew – 3 people, the ability to transport up to 20 marines. Boats are armed with 14.5 and 7.62 mm machine guns.
