The Russian military received a new batch of Rakushka-M armored personnel carriers equipped with electronic warfare and radar-absorbent material (RAM) camouflage.
The Rostec Corporation reported that the armored vehicles were equipped with the Nakidka RAM camouflage.
The High-Precision Complexes holding manufactured the armored vehicles as part of the 2024 state defense order.
“The equipment has passed all types of road tests and has been approved by military acceptance committee representatives,” Rostec claimed.
The Rakushka-M is also equipped with systems for localized suppression of drone control lines and upper hemisphere protection kits.
In addition, the BTR-MDMs received radar-absorbent material (RAM) camouflage called “Nakidka” and night vision devices for the driver.
The Nakidka camouflage system is a set of covers made of radio-absorbing material and sections to cover the combat vehicle.
BTR-MDM armored personnel carriers are designed to transport up to 13 troops and supplies.
The crew consists of two people. The armored vehicles can move on the highway at a maximum speed of at least 70 km/h, and the average speed on dry dirt roads is 45 to 50 km/h.
Pump-jet systems can provide a crossing of water obstacles at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.
The Rakushka-M armored personnel carrier is the only armored vehicle created in modern Russia that has developed the technology of landing from an aircraft with a crew on board.
In 2023, the captured BTR-MD Rakushka was restored for the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.
