The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine disclosed details of destruction of Russian guided missile corvette Ivanovets

Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, provided details of the destruction of a guided missile corvette Ivanovets of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

He gave a comment to The War Zone.

The Ukrainian operation with the use of uncrewed surface vessels was carried out on the night of January 31-February 1, 2024.

The uncrewed surface vessels were operated by the soldiers of the Group 13 drone unit of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

According to Budanov, during the destruction of the specified ship, six direct hits by naval drones were made to the hull of the ship that was in the Black Sea on a raid near Lake Donuzlav in the west of occupied Crimea.

The invaders’ ship was attacked by Ukrainian-made Magura V5 unmanned surface vehicles.

According to Kyrylo Budanov, as a result of the damage, the Project 12411 guided missile corvette Ivanovets rolled astern and sank.

“As a result of the damage, the ship rolled astern and sank. According to preliminary data, the search and rescue operation, conducted by the enemy, was not successful,” he said.

The Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine also noted that, according to preliminary data, the search and rescue operation, conducted by the enemy, was not successful.

It should be noted that the crew of the Project 12411 guided missile corvette consisted of 40 people.

The footage released by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine shows, after one of the drones hit, several more hit where another USV previously created a large gash.
